Avery warm welcome to EtonHouse Lodge (‘The Lodge’) – a purpose designed pre-school that provides a safe and stimulating environment for young children to develop mentally, physically and emotionally. We welcome boys and girls of all nationalities from 18 months. Our first priority is to get to know you and your children – to work closely with you, ensuring every child’s time at the Lodge is fun and rewarding.

Ultimately, our aim is to prepare every child for a smooth transition and entry into the Reception class at EtonHouse Prep (EHPS). We recognise that every child is different and will develop at a different pace – we respect them as competent, curious individuals who are all full of potential. Every day children will be provided with opportunities to explore and inquire, developing confidence and creativity through play and real hands on learning. Our curriculum and assessment is aligned to the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.

We very much look forward to meeting you – to hearing your feedback and ideas – and most importantly, to working with you. We will work with you to provide your child with everything they need, at this young age, as they prepare to grow.

Our Facilities

The Lodge has been designed to enhance children’s learning and behaviour. The environment plays a crucial role and is often referred to as the ‘third teacher’.

Open space and natural light prevail throughout – with the use of natural colours, products and textures where possible. Settings are divided into learning spaces with additional shared spaces for small group activities such as role-play, cookery, construction and art. The Rooftop Area provides space for around the year physical activities ensuring learning takes place in & out of the classroom.

I  In line with EtonHouse Prep’s commitment to academic excellence and quality for its pupils, the ratios for classes at the Lodge are 1:4 for the under 2’s, 1:5 for the children age 3 years and under and 1:6 for the age group 4 years and under.

Student Care & Support

Ensuring children feel safe, secure and listened to (respected) is essential in helping each child develop to their potential and at their own pace. Our robust recruitment processes, combined with high retention levels, ensures we have the very best people working at EtonHouse. We understand that parents need to feel secure about the quality, skills, attitudes, knowledge, and experience of the staff working with their children.

Partnership & Communication

Every child is unique and special. No one knows your child better than you – you are your child’s first teacher. We seek to combine your knowledge of your child with our expertise in childcare and early learning. We will provide advice where you need it and seek to challenge your child appropriately as he or she progresses.

Understanding your child’s family and existing home routines is important in helping to plan activities and schedules at school. It is important that we complement each other – the closer we can work together the more rewarding and successful the experience for you and your child.

Tapestry – Observation & Assessment Info

What is Tapestry?

Tapestry is a secure online Learning Journal to record photos, observations and comments, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, to build up a record of your child’s experiences during their time with us. This system allows us to work with parents and carers to share information and record the children’s play and learning in and outside of the classroom.

We use this facility to build strong partnerships with the parents, allowing you an insight into their learning and play at school. It also provides parents with the opportunity to add observations from home and to comment and ask questions on the ones added by staff.

What is Tapestry’s website address?

https://tapestry.info/resources.html/ and you can login at www.tapestryjournal.com

How does Tapestry work?

Tapestry provides each individual child with their own Learning Journal held online. Parents and carers are given their own log-in using their email and password (which is pre-set by us but can be changed by you to make it more secure). All our staff are given a secure log-in. They can then upload observations, photos or videos; recording children’s achievements and assessing their learning in reference to the EYFS curriculum.

Parents can change their settings so that an email is then automatically generated informing them when an observation has been added so they can have a look and add any comments of their own.

Who can access Tapestry?

As parents/carers you both can access Tapestry by letting staff know any e-mail addresses that you wish to link with the system (limited to 2 per child).

Can other relatives join in Tapestry?

You can choose to share your log in details with extended family if you wish, so they can see your child’s Learning Journal.

Nutrition & Health

A healthy and balanced diet is as essential for every child’s development as regular sleeping routines, exercise and outdoor play. Our menus and snacks are developed and reviewed in consultation with nutritionists and our external caterers. The overriding aim is to encourage children to try a diverse range of International and Asian flavours through a daily routine that includes healthy snacks and nutritious lunches. Ingredients are fresh and adjusted to suit the season, cultural events and individual dietary requirements where possible.

Outdoor play and exercise are actively encouraged, weather permitting, to complement on-going indoor physical activities. In class, learning links PE and the benefits to the human body of physical activity and a healthy diet.

EtonHouse Korea

EtonHouse Korea, part of the EtonHouse International Education Group headquartered in Singapore, was established in 2010 and has two International Pre-Schools (2-7 years old) in Bundang and Dongtan, both well-planned and wealthy suburbs of Seoul. The first Pre-School opened in Bundang in 2010 followed by the opening of a second a year later at Dongtan in 2011.

Korea is a country in transition and like everywhere else in the world is becoming increasingly globalised with the demand for an international outlook and high quality education growing fast. The EtonHouse Pre-School inquiry-based curriculum based on international best practice offers a learning environment that creates international mindedness amongst its young learners and builds on EtonHouse’s expertise in combining the best of the East and the West.

In 2012, EtonHouse Korea acquired a large building in Hannam, Central Seoul and has since put in place plans to establish EtonHouse Prep within it, which will open its doors in August 2013 to boys and girls aged 2-13 years.
